U.S. Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) today released the following statement after voting against a joint resolution of Congressional disapproval that would have further limited Arizonans choice in healthcare coverage by eliminating short-term insurance options:

"I was proud to vote against a resolution that would have resulted in fewer health care options for Arizonans. My vote protected short-term health insurance plans that provide Arizonans access to temporary coverage and are often more affordable than insurance found in the Obamacare marketplace.

"Since Obamacare was enacted eight years ago, Arizonans have seen fewer choices and increased costs. At one point, even the state's most populous counties had only one health insurance provider participating in the Obamacare exchange. Today's vote prevented us from taking a step backward and ensured that Arizonans will continue to have greater flexibility and more control over their own health insurance."
